Music Supported Here: The Floe

By | Published on Monday 26 April 2010

CMU Daily is currently celebrating the previously reported Music Supported Here campaign, and profiling some of the artists who have backed the initiative.

At the heart of the MSH project is a gallery of ‘music’ logos that incorporate the copyright ‘C’ which have been drawn by each participating artist. We will be featuring a different music logo in the CMU Daily each day, and will invite the artist who created it to introduce themselves and explain why they are supporting the campaign. Along the way we’ll meet some brand new artists, some more established grass roots acts and some pop superstars.

Today’s logo was created by quartet The Floe. Before they tell us why they’re supporting MSH, here’s their artist blurb: “The Floe aren’t just about image or trying to fit in with passing trends, this is a band of real substance, a band to believe in. Within the group there is an alchemy that makes them both distinctive and compelling. Brimming with tales of love, heartache, longing and hope, and with Grammy Award-winning mixer Simon Gogerly on-board, The Floe’s debut album ‘No Looking Back’ is built on a solid foundation of delicate melodies, soaring vocals & passionate lyrics”.

And here’s why they are supporting MSH: “Music is our livelihood, and our families’ future. Words like ‘livelihood’ or ‘copyright’ may not be very rock and roll, but there will be no new music in future unless artists like us are paid for what we do. We are 100% behind the Music Supported Here campaign”.

Look out for another ‘music logo’ and MSH supporting band tomorrow.
