Nambucca burns down, well, almost
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 18 December 2008
The North London venue where The Holloways first came together, Nambucca (which is on the Holloway Road, hence the band’s name), almost burned to the ground on Tuesday night.
A fire ripped through the building at about 10.30pm and it took most of the night for fire fighters to bring it under control. No one was hurt, but the building is reportedly badly damaged, especially the basement which was apparently gutted.
It’s not clear what this means for the venue, where sixsevenine signings We Smoke Fags also formed, and which regularly hosted indie gigs featuring the likes of Babyshambles, The Long Blondes and Kid Harpoon.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
