New CEO at Slacker
By Chris Cooke | Published on Monday 3 February 2014
North American streaming service Slacker Radio announced the appointment of a new CEO on Friday. Former Disney and Nintendo man Duncan Orrell-Jones will take over at the digital music firm on 10 Feb, replacing Jim Cady, chief exec at the business for the last eight years who will stay on as a board director.
Confirming Orrell-Jones’ appointment, Cady told reporters: “I’m excited to welcome Duncan to Slacker Radio and look forward to working with him to lead the company into its next stage of growth. Slacker has built a powerful service that blends the art of human-curated radio with the science of streaming. We attracted more than 21 million new listeners in 2013, and it’s an ideal time to bring in someone of Duncan’s calibre to take Slacker’s business to the next level”.
Meanwhile Orrell-Jones told Billboard: “Jim has built an amazing foundation. The product is there. The engagement is growing. We have a number of core partnerships for distribution in place. Now, it’s building on that and executing”.
