New editor for Zoo

Bauer Media have announced that Tom Etherington will take over as Editor of their weekly lads mag Zoo. Etherington, who has been helping launch the Australian edition of Zoo mag, will take over from outgoing editor Ben Todd on the UK version of the magazine.

Look, here’s what he said about his new job: “There are some very exciting plans for Zoo, and I can’t wait to be a part of them. It’s going to be hard to leave Australia, especially at the start of summer, but there’s only so much sun a pasty Englishman can take – and only so much Ashes-gloating the Aussies will bear”.

Presumable, those “exciting plans” mean looking somewhere else for vaguely recognisable ladies willing to take their clothes off now that Channel 4 have axed ‘Big Brother’.

Etherington has been with Bauer (well, EMAP originally) since 2005, and worked on the Australian editions of FHM and Zoo. Prior to that he worked on Zoo’s IPC-owned competition Nuts.

As previously reported, the lads mags are among those print titles to see their circulations nose dive in the last year. It’s certainly a tricky time to be taking one over.
