New recruit for Kobalt’s neighbouring rights business
By Chris Cooke | Published on Friday 7 March 2014
Kobalt’s neighbouring rights business has extended its US presence by appointing a new Business Development Manager to be based in LA. New recruit Jesse Willoughby, who previously worked with US collecting society ASCAP, will report into Kobalt Neighbouring Rights’ MD Ann Tausis.
Confirming his new role, Jesse Willoughby told CMU: “I’m very excited to have the opportunity of joining a company with the global impact of Kobalt. The reputation of the company precedes it, and I look forward to being part of the KNR team and contributing to its ongoing success”.
Meanwhile Tausis added: “We’re happy to welcome Jesse to the Kobalt family. His experience in the performing rights sector, and particularly in relationship management, will be hugely valuable as we look to take KNR further forward in the US – a market which is notably more complex when it comes to neighbouring rights”.
And if you’re wondering what exactly ‘neighbouring rights’ are, or how much money is being generated by them in 2014, or what role a Kobalt-type company plays in collecting this income stream, well Tausis will be among the experts sharing insights on this very subject as part of the ‘Maximising Music Rights’ strand at the CMU-Insights programmed Great Escape Convention in May.
