No rock n pop legends post 1984, says Simmons

Just in case you wondered, there have been no ‘music legends’ since 1984. It’s official. In that Gene Simmons has spoken. Asked about truly legendary music folk by Team Rock Radio, Simmons said the list of rock n pop legends (which conveniently includes his band Kiss) pretty much ended in the middle of the 1980s.
Said Simmons: “Let me see – Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Who and just on and on. And through the 70s, Aerosmith, Kiss, Led Zeppelin. Now from 1984 until today, name one superstar that’s bigger than their music, and not just somebody that’s recorded one or two records, but another Queen or another AC/DC? None, you can’t name one”.
And before you shout out “Cobain”, or “Winehouse”, you’re forgetting they died too soon to be Simmons-approved legends. The Kiss man continued: “Kurt Cobain – no, that’s one or two records. That’s not enough. Amy Winehouse – that’s one or two records. That’s not enough. What, just cause you died, that makes you an icon? No, no”.
