Single Review: Official Secrets Act – So Tomorrow (One Little Indian)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 8 December 2008
In the all too homogenised world of indie-pop it takes something really special to stand out. And given the masses’ preference for the homogenised nonsense, bands who want to be different and successful need something special. Sadly, Official Secrets Act do not quite have that something. There is talk of their lyrical dexterity, their new wave inventiveness and their gift for writing rabble-rousing choruses, yet little of this is on display here. I shall concede that they have a penchant for creating sweeter than sugar harmonies, and their synth work is often inspired, too. However, this is too little too late; it’s unexciting, banal and unimpressive. SJS
