The Q Awards nominations are out. Arcade Fire and Plan B do best with three nominations each. This year also sees three new categories introduced: Best Female Artist, Best Male Artist and Next Big Thing. Nominations for the latter will be announced nearer the ceremony, which is due to take place on 25 Oct.

The magazine has also organised a series of gigs at The Forum in London in the run-up to the ceremony, plus an exclusive one-off show by Neil Finn at The Jazz Cafe the night before the event.

Here are the gigs and their line-ups:

20 Oct: Jamiroquai (The Forum)
21 Oct: Chase & Status (The Forum)
22 Oct: Paolo Nutini, Tim Robbins (The Forum)
23 Oct: Mark Ronson & The Business INTL, Rose Elinor Dougal, Tinashé (The Forum)
24 Oct: Neil Finn (The Jazz Café)

Editor-In-Chief Paul Rees says this: “This year more than ever, the Q Awards is honouring the people who’ve made the music that has mattered most in the past twelve months, as well as celebrating our musical icons. There are more voted-for awards than ever too, emphasising that the Q Awards, uniquely, are the people’s choice. I’m delighted to say that the quality and variety of the acts nominated this year testifies strongly to the fact that music right now is as vibrant and exciting as it’s ever been”.
