RIAA chief steps down
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 9 August 2011
As expected, the boss of the Recording Industry Association Of America, Mitch Bainwol, has announced he will leave the organisation next month to join a trade body for the US automobile sector. As also expected, he will be replaced in the CEO role by the group’s current President Cary Sherman.
Sherman told reporters: “I’m honoured to take on this role at such a pivotal moment for music. The industry is now reaching a new stage, with exciting initiatives, compelling legal music offerings, and real signs of progress on a host of fronts. The RIAA plays an important role in helping shape public policy in connection with America’s music”.
