By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 17 May 2012
Robin Gibb remains very ill, according to reports, despite his significant efforts in fighting various ailments.
As previously reported, the Bee Gee spent over a week in a coma last month after suffering from pneumonia following surgery, but he regained consciousness and was talking with family members again. According to The Sun, more recently a tracheotomy tube has had to be placed in his neck, making it impossible to speak, so that he is communicating with close family and friends by blinking.
Nevertheless, friends say he continues to communicate and remains committed to fighting his illness. Tabloid reports suggest that he will require another bout of chemotherapy at some point as part of his continued treatment for liver and colon cancer.
A source told The Sun: “His mind is sharp as a tack but his body seems to be failing. But Robin will not give up. And [his wife] Dwina is determined he continue treatment”.
