The Rolling Stones have cancelled a performance in Perth, Australia tomorrow night, as Mick Jagger flies back to New York following the death of his partner, fashion designer L’Wren Scott.

Journalists this morning camped out in front of the Hyatt hotel in Perth, where the band had been staying, believing that a press conference had been scheduled for 9am local time. Although the hotel denied this before and again an hour after this time passed, the press still stuck it out until late afternoon, when a statement was issued via the promoter Frontier West’s Facebook page. The company confirmed that the show would not go ahead, though was unable to say if it would be rescheduled.

The band’s next show is due to take place at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday, and the CEO of the venue has told that as yet no decision on whether or not the concert would take place. There has been no comment on other dates on the Stones’ tour of Australia and New Zealand, which stretch into the beginning of next month.
