Sunrise Radio has 42 days to settle tax debts
By Chris Cooke | Published on Tuesday 3 September 2013
Radio company Sunrise Radio, which operates various radio stations with programme specifically aimed at an Asian audience, has been given 42 days to settle a tax debt of over £400,000.
As previously reported, a petition to “wind-up” the Sunrise company was issued by the Inland Revenue in July. If the company was indeed wound up it would automatically lose its radio licences from media regular OfCom.
It remains to be seen if the company can fight off the threat, though 14 Oct was set as a new deadline in court yesterday. The Sunrise company operates Sunrise Radio, Kismat Radio, Punjabi Radio and Buzz Radio, though took a sister TV service off the air earlier this year.
