Oh Land

In the run up to this year’s Great Escape, which takes place in venues across Brighton from 12-14 May, we’ll be previewing some of our favourite artists who are playing the festival this year.

Former ballerina Nanna Øland Fabricius, aka Oh Land, released her debut album, ‘Fauna’, in 2008. The beautiful collection of songs managed to sound like recordings of a late night in a 1920s speakeasy, then unearthed in the 21st century and spruced up with modern production. Then the following year she was snapped up by Sony Music to record her eponymous follow-up with producers including Lester Mendez, who is best known for his work with Shakira.

Poppier, and with more pronounced songwriting than its predecessor, ‘Oh Land’ is due for release in the UK on 25 Jul. Ahead of the release, she will be appearing at The Great Escape at Digital on Friday. We’re particularly excited to see her play, firstly because she writes such excellent songs, but mainly because it’s a chance to see her unique live set-up, which was shown off in recently released studio performance of ‘Perfection’. Watch this below.
