Live Review: The Dirty Disco at The Great Escape 2010 on 14 May
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 18 May 2010
Waiting alongside a host of The Dirty Disco’s fans to enter the great space that is The Basement, it seemed that this quirky electro-pop band had a large following, which I assumed ensured that the show would be excellently interesting. Unfortunately, I was severely disappointed. The group used wacky costumes and excessively strange make up in order to distract from their repetitive and similar tracks, and the two female dancers with their choreographed movements were less than impressive. Rather than letting the audience focus on the music, The Dirty Disco relied on heavy visual distractions that left me feeling, on the whole, quite cheated. An attempt to be significantly ‘different’ left the group looking samey and unoriginal. JTP
