Universal’s Aussie man promoted
By Chris Cooke | Published on Tuesday 26 February 2013
The head of Universal Music’s Australasia operations has been promoted, assuming concurrent responsibilities for the Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan.
The latest in a string of executive rejigs at Universal Music’s International division since the acquisition of the EMI record labels last year and the promotion of Max Hole to CEO of the unit last month, George Ash will be charged with the task of matching his successes to date for the major, initially in New Zealand and subsequently in Australia, across the Asia Pacific market.
Says Hole: “In Australia and New Zealand George has built one of our most dynamic international operations with a very strong roster of artists and an immensely talented team of people. I’m very pleased that he will now be applying his energy and ideas to our business across the Asia Pacific region”.
Meanwhile Ash told CMU: “I have been lucky enough to work alongside the best in the industry in Australia and New Zealand. With Max now giving me this great opportunity and with our diverse and exceptional artists I’m very positive about Asia Pacific’s unprecedented growth potential and what we can achieve together”.
