Your Media buy old South West Radio stations
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 28 August 2009
Newly formed radio firm Your Media has acquired the business assets of the defunct South West Radio Ltd, which gives them a network of stations including 3TR, Bath FM, Brunel FM and Quaywest FM. The new firm also have plans to launch four internet radio stations in addition to their local FM outlets.
The acquisition, though, is not without controversy. A rival bidder for the four FM licences claims that Your Media had an unfair advantage because they have a director in common with the defunct SWR Ltd. That, the boss of Glastonbury Broadcasting Ltd claims, means that Your Media would have had knowledge of his rival bid via the administrators of South West Radio.
Glastonbury Broadcasting’s Ross Hemsworth has told Radio Today that he has lodged a formal complaint with both the administrators and media regulator Ofcom.
